Homemade Fig Simple Syrup
Made with fresh California Black Mission figs, Homemade Fig Simple Syrup is sweet, figgy, and delicious! Pour it into cocktails, salad dressings, marinades, and desserts. And it's incredibly easy to make.
How to Make Simple Syrup
Simple syrups are basically liquid sweeteners. Typically an equal amount of water and sugar are boiled together and slightly reduced. The result is an easy to use sweetener for beverages like coffees, iced teas, lemonades, sparkling water, and your favorite cocktails.
The beautiful thing about homemade simple syrups is that you can play around with the flavors. Infusing the syrup with fruits, herbs, and even flowers yields delicious aromas and tastes, like in this Rose Simple Syrup.
Fig simple syrup is easy to make and is a two-fer. For your efforts, you get a delicious figgy syrup but you also come away with jammy fig pieces that are fantastic over yogurt, ice cream, soft cheeses, and savory appetizers. Tuck some into a chicken dish for something different.
Make an easy appetizer: layer those jammy fig pieces over crumbled feta or goat cheese, drizzle with honey, and serve with crackers. Yum!
