Blood Orange Cosmo-Not

Blood Orange Cosmo-Not

Tart, sweet, and vibrant, this Blood Orange Cosmo-Not is a delicious mocktail. Yes, it's inspired by the famous Cosmopolitan cocktail!

My friend Lisa loves a good Cosmo and perfected her preferred version (less cranberry juice, more tart) during lockdown a few years ago. She calls hers the Pandemic Cosmo, and it is delicious! I, on the other hand, love so many other iterations, like the Cosmopolitan with St Germain. It is not-too-sweet and floral.

However, I have been diving into making more mocktails recently, as I've decreased my alcohol intake (I'm looking at you, menopause and sleep loss!).

Blood orange, lime, cranberry juice, apple cider vinegar, and blood orange simple syrup.
Straining the drink into a glass.

I like to call this one the Cosmo-Not, made with an easy blood orange simple syrup.

Lessons Learned

  • No cocktail jigger? No problem. Two Tablespoons equals one ounce.
  • It's important to use no-sugar-added cranberry juice, so check the ingredient label! I like the one from Ocean Spray that is lightly sweetened with apple/pear juice.

Hat Tips

Many thanks to Creative Culinary for the blood orange cocktail that I modified into a mocktail.
