Hot Apple Cider with Bourbon

A warm, low-alcohol cocktail that tastes like apple pie with ice cream? Yes, please! Hot Apple Cider with Bourbon includes a splash of bourbon whiskey and Licor 43. Top with frothy whipped cream and a sprinkle of cinnamon. So delish!
The secret to this yummy hot cocktail? Two kinds of liquor, but in small amounts.
Bourbon is a U.S. whiskey with vanilla and caramel notes. These flavors aren't additives but are naturally produced from the production of bourbon using a high percentage of corn and from the aging in charred oak barrels.
Licor 43 is a Spanish liqueur. Produced in Cartagena from 43 ingredients, the thick and velvety alcohol has citrus, herbal, and vanilla flavor profiles. It is delicious on its own or stirred into cocktails.
Both flavors pair nicely with apple cider!

Apple cider with vanilla and caramel? Sounds like apple pie to me! And what's better than pie à la mode (with ice cream)?
Heavy cream hit with a handheld milk frother brings the creamy, dreamy nod to ice cream. Just a few blitzes does the trick. Dust the top with ground cinnamon and enjoy!

Lessons Learned
- Either clarified or unfiltered apple cider will work here. Fresh is always best, but bottled is always on hand. Both are delicious!
- While I used heavy cream and a handheld milk frother, blitzed it a couple of times, and got a nice loosey-goosey whipped cream, you could also take a shortcut and use whipped cream in a can, such as Reddi-Wip.
Hat Tips
Many thanks to Novel Nightcaps for the À La Mode cocktail recipe, which I slightly adapted.
